Liptovská Mara is a reservoir in northern Slovakia completed in 1975, flooding several villages — most notably Liptovská Mara itself — whose submerged ruins occasionally resurface during drought-year drawdowns. The 0 euro souvenir format was introduced around 2015 as a collector commodity sold at tourist sites across the eurozone and associated countries; Slovakia uses the euro but issues no banknotes of its own under ECB allocation, making these souvenirs one of the few Slovak-themed paper instruments in circulation at all.
Oberthur prints the entire EES series to genuine banknote specification, hologram strip included. The zero denomination is legally non-negotiable by design.
