The 0 Euro souvenir series launched commercially in 2015, with Oberthur Fiduciaire producing the notes under license to replicate the security specifications of genuine euro currency — including holograms — while carrying no legal tender status anywhere. Mont Ventoux, the isolated limestone massif in the Vaucluse that has marked Tour de France climbing stages since 1951, was among the earliest regional subjects chosen. The series was designed from the outset as a collectible product sold directly at tourist sites, museums, and local institutions.
