EuroSouvenir notes occupy a peculiar niche: legal-design collector pieces issued under license from the ECB, denominated at zero and carrying no monetary value whatsoever. Oberthur Fiduciaire, one of the major security printers behind actual euro banknote production, prints these — which lends them a technical authenticity that most tourist souvenirs obviously lack. The security features are genuine; the money is not.
La Rochelle's aquarium, opened in 1990, is among the largest in France and known particularly for its jellyfish displays — one of the few in Europe to have maintained breeding programs for several medusa species.
