Eurosouvenirs zero-euro notes were introduced in 2015 as a legal curiosity — issued under European Central Bank authorization with genuine security features (including the Oberthur-produced EURion constellation and UV-reactive ink) but carrying no monetary value and never intended for payment. Oberthur Fiduciaire, one of the few security printers certified to produce euro-format notes, handles the entire run from its Rennes facility.
The Dune du Pilat — the tallest sand dune in Europe at roughly 110 metres — sits at the southern end of the Arcachon Bay in Gironde. This 2018 issue is one of several regional tourist editions for the site.
