Euro Souvenir notes are collector-issue pieces with no legal tender status, produced under license and sold as commemoratives across tourist sites throughout Europe and beyond. This example commemorates Dr. Fazıl Küçük, the Turkish Cypriot physician and politician who served as the first Vice President of the Republic of Cyprus from 1960 until 1973, when Turkish Cypriot participation in the government effectively ended. His role in founding the Cyprus Turkish National Party in 1942 made him the dominant figure in Turkish Cypriot political life for decades.
Oberthur Fiduciaire's involvement lends the piece genuine security printing quality — the same French firm that has produced currency for dozens of sovereign states.
