The Košický zlatý poklad — the Košice Gold Treasure — is the largest medieval gold hoard found in Central Europe, discovered in 1935 during construction work beneath a house on Hlavná ulica. The cache contained nearly three thousand gold coins spanning multiple centuries and mints, and has been housed in the East Slovak Museum ever since. Oberthur Fiduciaire, one of Europe's serious security printers, produces the entire EEAP souvenir zero series to banknote-grade specification — watermarked paper, UV-reactive ink, microprinting — which gives these pieces a technical finish well above their commemorative purpose.
