The EuroSouvenir program — administered by the European Association of Denominations, trading under the EEAD mark — issues these zero-denomination notes as licensed collector pieces rather than circulating currency, a category that sidesteps the European Central Bank's strict prohibitions on euro-denominated facsimiles. Oberthur Fiduciaire produces them to genuine security-printing standards, which is partly the point: the tactile authenticity is the product.
Jakabov palác in Košice is Slovakia's only surviving Gothic palace, built in the late 15th century and closely associated with the Jakab family. The city itself was the first in Europe to receive a coat of arms by royal grant, in 1369 — a detail that makes it a predictable but defensible choice for this series.
