| Obverse description | The face of the note presents a composite cityscape vignette uniting several Cologne landmarks across its width, including the Gothic twin spires of Cologne Cathedral, the Kranhäuser crane-house ensemble, the Hohenzollern Bridge, the equestrian statue of Frederick William IV, the colourful facades of the Old Town, the 4711 perfume house, the television tower, and HA Schult's winged automobile sculpture atop the City Museum tower, all rendered in the graphic style characteristic of the EuroSouvenir series. The large denomination numeral '0 EURO' is integrated into the design alongside the series identifier 'EUROSOUVENIR 2023-6' and the year '2023'. EuroSouvenir zero-euro notes have been produced by Oberthur Fiduciaire since the format launched in 2015, each carrying the full security features of genuine euro banknotes — including the Europastern hologram strip — despite having no legal tender status anywhere. The model is essentially licensed novelty printing at banknote specification, and Oberthur's position as an approved Eurosystem security printer is what makes the format credible enough to sell.
Köln is one of the more frequently revisited subjects in the zero-euro series, with multiple releases across different years.
