EuroSouvenir notes are officially licensed by the European Central Bank under a scheme introduced in 2015, permitting authorised printers to produce zero-denomination collector pieces that mimic euro dimensions and security features without being legal tender. Oberthur Fiduciaire, one of the few printers approved for the programme, produces these on genuine banknote paper with recognisable intaglio-style printing — which is precisely why customs occasionally flags them.

The Kayan Lahwi subject refers to the Kayan people of Myanmar and Thailand, known outside their communities primarily for the brass neck rings worn by women of the Lahwi subgroup. A note that exists purely as a souvenir commodity built around that imagery is its own kind of anthropological footnote.
