Zero-euro souvenir notes have been issued under UENA licensing since 2015, with Oberthur Fiduciaire holding one of the principal printing contracts for the series. These notes carry genuine security features — including a eurion constellation and holographic strip — because the European Central Bank granted a specific exemption permitting their production, provided they bear a zero denomination and cannot be mistaken for legal tender at face value.
Sophie Beaujard is a genuine name in French banknote design, credited with several Banque de France issues before the euro transition.
