Oberthur Fiduciaire's 0 euro souvenir program has produced hundreds of regional issues since 2015, and Réunion is an obvious candidate — an overseas department rather than a territory, which means it actually uses the euro as its official currency, making the "souvenir" framing technically less of a fiction than for many others in the series. Michel Sicre has designed multiple entries in the program. Oberthur prints these to full security-note specification, including the correct substrate and UV features, which is precisely what makes them attractive to collectors and legally permissible under EU rules governing non-monetary face values.
