EuroSouvenir notes have no legal tender status anywhere — they are collector items manufactured to banknote specification and sold directly to tourists. Oberthur Fiduciaire produces them to the same security standards as genuine currency, which is partly the point: the tactile experience of holding something that feels like a real note is the product being sold.

The "Île Bourbon" subtitle references the island's name under French royal and later imperial administration, used from the 17th century until 1848, when it was renamed Réunion following the abolition of slavery.
