The Hanging Gardens of Babylon present an obvious problem for a souvenir note program built around European landmarks: the Gardens almost certainly weren't in Europe, may not have existed at all, and if they did, the leading scholarly candidate is Nineveh in modern Iraq, not Babylon. EuroSouvenir included them anyway, grouped loosely under a "Wonders of the Ancient World" theme that stretches the program's geographic premise past any reasonable limit.
Oberthur Fiduciaire printed the series using the same security substrate and design grammar as genuine euro notes — a deliberate choice that made them immediately recognizable to the public while remaining legally zero-denomination.
