The titanus giganteus — the giant longhorn beetle, native to Amazonian rainforest including French Guiana — is a credible choice for a regional souvenir note, being among the largest beetles by body mass known to science. Whether "Le Planeur Bleu" refers to the business issuing the souvenir or a local shop is the kind of detail that rarely survives in catalog records. Oberthur Fiduciaire printed the piece, which puts the physical production quality well above the typical tourist-market novelty despite the denomination carrying no legal tender status whatsoever.
