The Four Solaire d'Odeillo, built in the Pyrénées-Orientales in the early 1970s, uses 63 heliostats and a massive parabolic reflector to concentrate sunlight to temperatures exceeding 3,500°C — among the highest achievable outside a nuclear reactor. It remains an active research facility operated by CNRS, which is what distinguishes it from the purely heritage sites more commonly featured in this souvenir series.
Oberthur Fiduciaire printed the EuroSouvenir 0 Euro program notes under contract beginning around 2015, applying genuine security features to what is legally a collector item with no tender value anywhere.
