The Village des Bories is an open-air museum near Gordes in the Vaucluse, preserving a cluster of dry-stone corbelled huts — bories — that were occupied intermittently from the Bronze Age through the 18th century. The 0 Euro souvenir series, administered by the Union Européenne des Collectionneurs de Yeux (UECY) and printed by Oberthur Fiduciaire, launched in 2015 specifically to target the tourist and collector market. These notes carry full legal-format security features despite having no redemption value — Oberthur essentially applied banknote-grade production to a novelty item.

Designer R. Faille worked across multiple issues in the inaugural 2015 run.
