Obverse description Central vignette presents a crowd scene with the traditional giants of Douai — a towering armoured male figure at left and an elegantly dressed female figure at right — posed before the Gothic belfry and Flemish-style façade of the Douai town hall, against a multicolour underprint in mauve and yellow tones. To the left, a large intaglio-style zero numeral is set within a guilloche border, flanked by the EU flag with the 'Euro Souvenir' circular legend and the series code '2021-1'. At lower centre, the 'EURO SOUVENIR' block logo appears alongside the issuer name 'DOUAISIS TOURISME' and a facsimile signature of P. Faille, C.E.O.

Zero-euro souvenir notes have been produced by Oberthur Fiduciaire for French regional tourism offices since around 2015, and Douaisis Tourisme's entry references the Géants tradition — processional giant figures central to northern French and Belgian civic identity, recognized by UNESCO in 2008 as intangible cultural heritage. Douai's own giants, the Gayant family, have been paraded annually since at least 1530, making them among the oldest continuously celebrated civic figures of this type in France.

These notes carry no legal tender status and were never intended to circulate. Oberthur's security printing keeps forgery pointless, which is the joke embedded in the entire series.
