Oberthur Fiduciaire has produced the bulk of the eurosouvenir series under license arrangements that replicate genuine euro security features — serial numbers, holograms, and UV-reactive inks — on notes that carry no legal tender status anywhere. The format was formalized around 2015 when the European Central Bank tacitly accepted these collector issues provided they met specific visual differentiation requirements.
The Deutsches Bernsteinmuseum in the former Franciscan convent at Ribnitz-Damgarten holds one of the largest amber collections in the world — the Mecklenburg Baltic coast having been a major source of worked amber since the Bronze Age.
