Opmerkingen

The Centre des Monuments Nationaux began issuing these souvenir zero-euro notes in 2016 as a revenue stream for heritage sites, with Oberthur Fiduciaire producing them to genuine banknote specification — the same security paper, microprinting, and UV-reactive elements used in circulating currency. The program has expanded to hundreds of French monuments and tourist sites, creating a de facto collectibles market entirely detached from any monetary function.

Château de Vincennes is among the more defensible choices for the series — one of the largest surviving medieval fortified complexes in Europe, used variously as a royal residence, a porcelain manufactory, and a military prison before becoming a national monument.
