Euro Souvenir notes have no legal tender status anywhere — they are commemorative items sold at tourist sites across France and other eurozone countries, a program launched in 2013 that quickly became a minor collectible category in its own right. Oberthur Fiduciaire, one of the major security printers behind actual euro banknote production, handles the physical printing, which means the paper and watermark security features are genuine — an odd detail for an object that was never meant to circulate.
Château de Quéribus, perched above the Corbières near Cucugnan, was the last Cathar stronghold to fall during the Albigensian Crusade, surrendering in 1255.
