Monbazillac's 0 euro was issued by the UEDF — the Union Européenne de la Distillerie Française — making it one of the few souvenir notes tied explicitly to a spirits industry body rather than a tourist office or regional government. The château itself has been collectively owned by the Bergerac wine cooperative since 1960, which gives this note an unusual institutional backer even within the already eclectic world of EuroSouvenir issues.

Oberthur Fiduciaire printed the series, as they did the majority of French 0 euro releases, applying the same security substrate used on genuine low-denomination collector issues.
