Part of the Eurosouvenirs collector series issued under a licensing arrangement with the European Central Bank, this zero-denomination note has no legal tender status but is produced to genuine banknote specifications by Oberthur Fiduciaire — the same French security printer responsible for numerous circulating issues across Europe and Africa. The Karolyi Castle in Carei, northwestern Romania, was built in its current neo-Gothic form in the late 19th century by the Hungarian Károlyi noble family, whose influence in the Szatmár region stretched back several centuries before the post-WWI redrawing of borders transferred the territory to Romania.
