The 0 Euro souvenir note program — administered by the MECP in Paris — has issued several hundred regional subjects since 2015, with Cantanhede joining the catalog in 2022. These notes are legal curiosities: they carry the Euro symbol and meet the physical specifications demanded by Oberthur's security printing infrastructure, but hold no monetary value and are exempt from the ECB's currency regulations precisely because of the zero denomination. Oberthur Fiduciaire, one of the few printers authorized to produce genuine Euro banknotes, applies the same substrate and security features here as it does on circulating currency.
