This particular issue commemorates the 2022 FIFA World Cup hosted by Qatar — a notably incongruous pairing, given that Canada qualified for that tournament for the first time since 1986, yet holds no connection whatsoever to the Euro currency zone.
Collector demand drove the souvenir note market sharply upward after 2015, when the first EuroSouvenir issues appeared; by 2022, print runs for popular themes regularly sold out within days of release.
