EuroSouvenir zero-euro notes are legal-tender collector pieces issued under a framework established with the Banque de France, printed to full security-note specification by Oberthur Fiduciaire — the same Chateaubriand-area firm responsible for a significant share of France's circulating currency production. Oberthur's involvement ensures the notes carry genuine security features, which is precisely what drives collector demand for a denomination that will never buy anything.
Bergerac is better known for Rostand's 1897 play than for its wine, though locals would dispute that ordering.
