Part of the Euro Souvenir program administered by the European Association of Collectors, this note was issued to mark Banská Bystrica, a central Slovak city best known internationally as the site of the 1944 Slovak National Uprising against Nazi occupation — one of the largest armed resistance actions in occupied Europe during the Second World War. The city served as the uprising's command center before German forces suppressed it in October of that year.
Oberthur Fiduciaire prints the entire Euro Souvenir series under strict EEAG licensing, using the same security substrate and format applied across all participating locations, making the issuing "authority" essentially a collector's program rather than any monetary institution.
