Leopold Mozart — composer, pedagogue, and father of Wolfgang — was born in Augsburg in 1719, making 2019 his tercentenary. This zero-denomination souvenir note was issued to mark that anniversary, part of the EuroSouvenir program that has produced hundreds of similar items for European tourist sites and cultural events since 2015. They are legal in format but carry no monetary value and are not issued by any central bank.
Oberthur Fiduciaire prints the series using genuine banknote paper and security features, which gives these items a tactile credibility that confuses some buyers into thinking they hold something redeemable.
