Orellana la Vieja is a small municipality in Badajoz province, Extremadura, and like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War period, its municipal council issued emergency fractional notes to address the acute shortage of small coinage that followed the July 1936 uprising. These local emissions — collectively catalogued under the Guerra Civil municipal series — were produced with whatever printing resources were locally available, typically resulting in crude typeset or hand-stamped notes on low-grade paper. The Gari reference being incomplete suggests this piece has not been fully classified, which is common for the rarer municipal issues from smaller Extremaduran towns where surviving examples are few.
