Laspuña is a small village in the Pyrenean foothills of Huesca province, Aragon, and its municipal council issued fractional emergency notes — *cartones moneda* — during the Spanish Civil War when Republican Spain suffered an acute shortage of small-denomination coinage. Copper and silver had been hoarded, melted, or simply removed from circulation, forcing hundreds of municipalities, large and small, to improvise local scrip.
The official stamp is the only authentication — there was no printing security to speak of. Gari Mon catalogues this variant as 813-B, implying at least one earlier type exists for the same issuer.
