El Palau d'Anglesola is a small municipality in the Pla d'Urgell comarca of Lleida, and this note belongs to the enormous wave of locally-issued emergency fractional currency — the so-called *moneda local* or *bitllets locals* — produced across Republican-held Catalonia from 1936 onward. The collapse of small coin in circulation after the July 1936 uprising forced thousands of municipalities, cooperatives, and collectives to print their own low-denomination scrip just to keep local commerce moving.
Turró's catalog documents over two thousand such issuers. El Palau d'Anglesola's entry at #1753 places it deep in that count — one small council among hundreds scrambling to solve the same problem with whatever printing resources were locally available.
