Commenti	Boltaña is a small municipality in the Aragonese Pyrenees, and like hundreds of Spanish towns, it issued its own fractional emergency currency during the Civil War after the Republic's small-change shortage became acute in 1936–37. These local issues — collectively known as moneda local or papel moneda municipal — were produced under wildly varying conditions, often printed by local print shops with no security features whatsoever. The thick card stock was a practical choice: it held up better in daily market use than thin paper and was easier to source locally than proper banknote stock.
