Beschrijving voorzijde	The central vignette, adapted from a Madagascar postal stamp design and printed in blue and black, portrays agricultural labourers at work in a field with a town silhouetted against the horizon. The letters 'R' and 'F' flank the word 'POSTES' at the top of the vignette, while the denomination '50c.' appears within a cartouche at the lower centre. A decorative guilloche border in blue frames the entire composition, with the legend 'MADAGASCAR ET DÉPENDANCES' running along the bottom margin.

Beschrijving keerzijde	The reverse is printed in black on plain cream-coloured paper, with a central intaglio vignette of a standing pointer dog in profile, rendered in fine line work and signed 'TURLOT' at the lower centre. The denomination '0,50' is printed vertically along the right margin, and the Malagasy word 'Lasiroa' runs vertically along the left margin. The overall layout is austere, devoid of border ornamentation.
