Chinese county-level ration stamps for cooking oil persisted well into the early 1990s in rural Sichuan, even as urban markets were being liberalized. Shuangliu County, immediately southwest of Chengdu and today absorbed into the city's administrative grid, was still running a parallel rationing infrastructure in 1991 — this stamp is a direct artifact of that lag between policy and practice.
Half-kilogram denominations were the working unit of everyday household allocation. These were not collected; they were used, surrendered at the point of sale, and discarded.
