The fractional Goldmark notes issued by the Prussian Finance Ministry in 1923 occupy a peculiar corner of Weimar-era emergency currency. As hyperinflation made conventional denominations meaningless, authorities experimented with gold-indexed paper — notionally pegged to a stable value rather than the collapsing Papiermark.
