| Opmerkingen |
Seròs is a small municipality in the Segrià comarca of Lleida, and like hundreds of similar localities across Republican Catalonia, it collectivized under CNT organization during the Civil War. Local emergency scrip of this kind — issued by collectivities rather than municipal governments — filled the void left when silver and copper coinage disappeared from circulation almost immediately after July 1936, hoarded or melted down as the conflict destabilized everyday commerce.
The issuer name "Renacer" — rebirth — was a common choice among anarcho-syndicalist collectives of the period, carrying obvious ideological weight for a movement that believed it was constructing a new social order in real time.
