Civil War necessity issue from a rural agricultural cooperative in Teruel province. By 1937, small-denomination coinage had effectively vanished from Republican-held territory — hoarded, melted, or simply absorbed by a broken supply chain — and hundreds of local bodies across Aragon and the Levant filled the gap with improvised paper. The Cooperativa Agrícola was exactly the kind of institution that found itself pressed into quasi-monetary functions it was never designed for.
Gari Mon 1188A-A is among the more obscure of these local emissions. Documentation on surviving quantities is thin.
