Opmerkingen

One of hundreds of small-denomination emergency issues produced by Catalan municipalities during the Civil War, after the Republican government's failure to supply enough fractional coinage left local councils printing their own scrip to keep markets functioning. Guardiola de Bages — a small town in the Bages comarca — contracted Imprenta Boixeda in nearby Manresa, a press that handled several such commissions in the region during 1937.

The thick card stock was a deliberate choice: it held up better to the friction of daily retail transactions than lighter paper, and was harder to counterfeit with simple means. Catalogued under Turró 1202.
