Opmerkingen

Castellón de Rugat is a small municipality in Valencia's Vall d'Albaida comarca, and its 1937 emergency fractional issue belongs to the enormous wave of locally printed currency that flooded Republican Spain when the Civil War severed normal coin supply chains. The centimo and small-denomination shortage became acute by mid-1936; municipalities, cooperatives, and trade unions across the Republican zone printed their own solutions, most in tiny quantities, often on whatever paper stock was available.

Surviving examples from villages this small are genuinely uncommon — production runs were minimal, redemption was rarely organized, and many notes simply disintegrated in circulation.
