Bellreguart is a small municipality in Valencia's comarca of La Safor, and like hundreds of similarly minor Spanish towns, it issued its own fractional emergency currency during the Civil War after the Republican government's decree authorizing local entities to produce small-denomination notes to replace coinage that had vanished from circulation by mid-1936. The Consejo Municipal designation reflects the wartime reorganization of local governance under the Republican zone — traditional ayuntamientos were frequently reconstituted as consejos during this period.
At 267 in the Turró typology, this note is among the lesser-documented Valencian emissions. Surviving examples are scarce simply because the issuing population was small and redemption, where it occurred at all, was often chaotic or incomplete as the front moved.
