Ontiñena is a small municipality in Huesca province, Aragon, and like hundreds of Spanish towns it resorted to locally produced fractional notes during the Civil War after metallic coinage vanished almost entirely from circulation in 1936–37. These municipal emergency issues — often printed on whatever stock was available, stamped or signed by a local official to confer legitimacy — were purely stopgap instruments, rarely intended to travel beyond the village market.
The Gari Morera reference remains unassigned, which typically indicates the note was catalogued from limited surviving specimens or dealer records rather than a formal institutional collection.
