| Obverse description | Nude or chlamys-clad horseman galloping to the right, the billowing cloak rendered with fluid, dynamic lines characteristic of Hellenistic die-cutting. The rider is depicted in vigorous motion atop a spirited horse with all four legs extended in full gallop. Beneath the horse, in the lower field, the Greek letter alpha (Α) appears as a control mark or mint symbol. The composition fills the flan generously, with the horse and rider rendered in relatively high relief against a plain field. |
