Nesos — Greek for "island" — was a small settlement on the island of Sicily, and its bronze coinage represents one of the more obscure municipal issues from the island's fourth century. The extreme light weight places this among the smallest fractional bronzes circulating in the Sicilian interior during a period when Syracusan dominance was reshaping regional monetary arrangements throughout the island.
