| Obverse description | Bearded head of the river god Borysthenes facing left, rendered in bold relief with characteristic flowing hair and a full, wavy beard rendered in deeply engraved parallel strands, evoking the currents of the river deity. The modelling is vigorous and naturalistic in the Hellenistic tradition, with pronounced facial features and wild, wind-swept locks radiating from the crown. No legend or border is present on the obverse field. |

| Reverse description | Central device comprising a Scythian battle-axe and a bow within its bowcase, depicted vertically in the field, emblematic of the city's close cultural ties with the surrounding nomadic peoples of the northern Black Sea region. The axe is positioned to the left of the bowcase, its blade clearly delineated. The Greek legend ΔΙ appears to the left of the central device and OΛBIO to the right, reading as an abbreviated form of the civic ethnic OΛBIOΠOΛITΩN, identifying the issuing authority as the polis of Olbia. |
