Additional information

Soloi was one of the most hellenized cities in Cilicia, and its name gave Greek the word "solecism" — ancient grammarians mocked the city's dialect as corrupt Attic. The civic bronze issues of this late period reflect a city caught between Seleucid decline and Roman consolidation of the eastern Mediterranean, with Pompey formally reorganizing Cilicia as a Roman province in 64 BC, effectively ending meaningful autonomous coinage not long after.
