Obverse description Wreathed head of Demeter facing left, her flowing hair rendered in fine wavy locks falling about the neck. The goddess wears a wreath of grain or leaves set atop her head, and the portrait is executed in the refined Hellenistic style characteristic of Lucanian bronze coinage. The field is plain, and the coin's irregular flan exhibits the dotted border visible along the upper right rim.
