The goddess's facial features and neck are visible in profile, with the helmet crest indicated above. | Beschrijving keerzijde | A dolphin leaping to the right occupies the central field, depicted in profile with stylized musculature. The central motif is framed by a prominent meander (Greek key) border running continuously around the inner circumference of the coin. Below the dolphin, the civic abbreviation ΠΡΙ (for Priene) is inscribed in archaic Greek letters within the lower portion of the meander frame. The overall design is bold and geometric, characteristic of Ionian civic bronze coinage of the mid-4th century BC. |
