Perge was among the most commercially active cities of Pamphylia during this period, its prosperity tied largely to its role as a regional religious center for the cult of Artemis Pergaia — a deity distinct enough from the Olympian Artemis that she attracted pilgrims and festival traffic from well beyond the immediate coast. The city's mint output in the second century reflects that civic confidence, producing small bronzes for local exchange rather than regional ambition.
