| Obverse description | Poseidon striding vigorously to the right, depicted in the archaic-to-classical Greek style with a nude or semi-draped athletic figure. His right arm is raised overhead, brandishing a trident in a striking pose, emblematic of the city's divine patron. The figure's dynamic forward stride conveys martial energy characteristic of Poseidonian bronze coinage of the late fifth century BC. The flan is irregular and the relief somewhat worn, consistent with the struck-bronze fabric of Lucanian mint production. |

| Reverse description | A bull standing in profile to the left, rendered in a sturdy, naturalistic style consistent with late fifth-century BC Lucanian coinage. The animal is depicted with well-modeled musculature, its head lowered and tail raised, standing on a plain ground line. The reverse type alludes to the fertile agricultural character of the Poseidonian territory and was a long-standing emblematic device of the city's coinage. The field above the bull appears plain, with no visible legend on this bronze issue. |
