Additional information

Mesma was a minor Greek colonial settlement on the Tyrrhenian coast of Bruttium, probably founded by Rhegion, and its independent coinage is sparse — this bronze is among the few surviving attestations of the city's autonomous monetary activity before Bruttian pressure and later Roman expansion effectively ended civic coin production in the region. HN Italy 2431 is not a common type; examples appear infrequently in trade.
