Miletopolis sat in the Macestus river valley southeast of Cyzicus, close enough to that dominant mint city to exist perpetually in its shadow. The city struck bronze for local exchange when larger regional coins handled serious commerce — these small bronzes circulated within a tight geographic radius and rarely traveled far.
